Tell Me About My Grandfather
My grandfather, Robert W. Loughlin, died on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day at 92. As his namesake, he left large footprints for me to follow. He was many things to me, and most of all a teacher.
When he died, I wanted to learn what he meant to others and to see what last lessons he may have left for me. I traveled around the country to talk to those who knew him best — his family.
My uncles, my dad, and my grandmother helped show me that family is not necessarily a given and that everyone has the power to choose who they want to be.
